Our DIY retreats and workshops have been running very successfully for the last 2 years and many are now repeat bookings for Spring and Autumn. We offer the venue for retreats during our off peak season - between October and the end of March/April as during peak season the weekends are usually booked up with weddings and holiday-makers.

There is occasionally a weekend available during our peak season (April - September) and usually there is availability for mid week retreats too, so when there are less than 6 months to go before a free weekend in the peak season we can be pretty sure it won't be booked for a wedding and can then accept a retreat booking.

The Venue

Spending time at Country Ways is like stepping off the planet for a few days.... we are surrounded by the most wonderful Devon countryside and have magnificent far-reaching views. It is a totally peaceful venue of 40+ acres and we are tucked away between our pasture paddocks and our own ancient woodland where there is a fresh stream and pathways to explore. There is an abundance of wildlife around us and we have our own resident barn owls that nest and produce young every year.

We keep animals for our own pleasure and breed miniature Shetland ponies and donkeys and also have alpacas and reindeer... all our animals are tame and friendly and are handled with love, kindness and respect. We are happy to include hands on experiences with them at a small extra cost.

The Corn Barn lends itself to creative, physical and mindfulness retreats as it is a large, bright and airy space with breath-taking views from the french doors and large terrace. There is ample carpeted floor space and plenty of plastic topped trestle tables and chairs if required. There is heating, a toilet, sound system and a fully equipped kitchen, so it is suitable for self catering or having a caterer on site to provide meals.

If required, I can offer a list of excellent local caterers to meet almost every need and both Sainsbury's and Tesco deliver here, either to the cottages or Corn Barn. We can also provide barbecues and a fire bowl if required at a small extra cost.

Of course anyone on a residential retreat has the benefit of staying in one of our 6 converted farm cottages on site, either shared or sole occupancy and all cottages are self catering, fully equipped and have central heating and wifi, There is no restriction on when the Corn Barn is used either so if anyone needs to start early or work on into the evening... or even settle down for a full night's meditation....that's fine!

Retreat/Workshop bookings:

We can be pretty flexible with regard to the number of days/nights. What normally works well is for the retreat organiser to arrive around midday on a Friday to set up the venue and the students to arrive for a welcome gathering around 4pm, so the retreat could either start that evening or first thing on Saturday morning after everyone has settled in. Departure would normally be around 4pm on Sunday. We are also happy with Monday - Friday retreats or any combination of days that fit around our existing bookings.

Within the 6 cottages are a total of 12 bedrooms, of which 5 bedrooms sleep 1 guest, 2 bedrooms can sleep 3 guests, 3 bedrooms can sleep 2 guests and 2 cottages are single occupancy only having only 1 bedroom each.

So if all bedrooms are shared and single occupancy as above we can sleep up to 19 guests.

If all bedrooms are single occupancy only we can sleep up to 12 guests.

We are also happy to welcome tents on site and can provide bathroom/kitchen facilities.
